On August 31, 2010 the Northside Education Foundation held its annual Gala. It was a great evening in which the Foundation raised a lot of money from a silent auction as well as a live auction. As you know the individuals who are recognized as our Pillars of Character are honored at this event, and of course they are all graduates of Northside high schools. Six Pillars of Character are named representing the Pillars of Caring, Respect, Fairness, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, and Citizenship. The 2010 Pillars of Character are:
| Caring |
Marcedes Fuller |
Business Careers Class of 2004 |
| Citizenship |
Diana Cruz-Zapata |
Holmes Class of 1977 |
| Responsibility |
Linda Goldfarb |
Jay Class of 1974 |
| Fairness |
Capt. Janae Florance |
Jay Class of 1983 |
| Respect |
Heidi Bush |
Reddix Center Class of 1987 |
| Truthworthiness |
Darold Williamson |
Business Careers Class of 2001 |
Congratulations to these individuals for being chosen to represent the Pillars of Character. This is an outstanding group of graduates of Northside and they will certainly represent the six pillars of character as examples to our students. According to Bonnie Ellison, Director of Partnerships, we raised approximately $239,000 for the Foundation. A special thank you to Larry Ratcliff of Jefferson Bank and to Cristina Gonzalez of Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, LLP for serving as master and mistress of ceremonies, and to Merry Raba, Raba-Kistner Consultants, and Dave Gannon of Airgas for serving as banquet co-chairs. Also, thanks to all the members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for all their work. This was a great event and again a great example of “Positively Northside.”
